Rev. Agnes M. Lover - Pastor 



          Rev. Lover is the Pastor of The Historic Ward Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church (Prattville) in the Alabama River Region where she also serves as Conference Christian Education Director. She serves as the Ninth Episcopal District Christian Debutante Master Commissioner, and since 2011 over $60,000 in scholarships has been awarded.   In 2010, she was appointed the first female pastor of Greater St. Paul AME Church (Florence) in the Northwest Alabama Conference.  In the Northwest, she served as Conference Assistant Secretary; and Co-Chaired 3rd and 2nd Year Ministry Studies of the Board of Examiners (BOE).  

In September 2009, Rev. Lover received her first pastorate appointment where she served at Gaines Chapel in Sardis, AL! Sweet Home Alabama! She served as Chair of 2nd Year Studies of the BOE and Conference Secretary.  

Prior to transferring to the Ninth Episcopal District (Alabama), Rev. Lover served in Ministry at Turner Chapel AME Church (6000+ membership) in Marietta, Georgia for nearly a decade.  She was appointed the Worship Pastor in 2008.   She was responsible for administration of all worship ministries and tasked with facilitating all corporate worship services.   Prior to this assignment, she gave leadership to Turner Chapel?s Discipleship Ministry and Fellowship Ministry.  As Minister of Fellowship, she managed 20 ministry leaders tasked with connecting Turner's members one to another. Her past ministry roles at Turner also include: Co-Director of Vacation Bible School; Chairperson of Worship Committee and Living Single Ministry.  

She received her Masters of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University.  While at Candler, she served as a student chaplain at Carpenter's House, a male Drug Rehabilitation Center.  Rev. Lover is intrigued how the church meets the multiplex needs of the community it serves and desires her personal ministry and theology to harness those values.

Rev. Lover was ordained an Itinerant Deacon in 2004 in the Atlanta North ? Georgia Annual Conference and was ordained to the Order of Itinerant Elder in May 2006.  In 2007, she successfully completed United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta V.I.P. Board Training program that prepares persons for leadership roles in nonprofit agencies.

Prior to pursuing fulltime ministry, she was a wireless Account Executive with Alcatel-Lucent Technologies. Her corporate career evolved around 24 years of telecommunication experience combined in systems engineering, project management, sales and marketing.  

Rev. Lover is the extremely proud mother of two young adult children, her son, Kevion and her daughter, Gimel.  Let the Church say Amen!
